IN TANDEM WITH THAT COMMITMENT, THE MADE A GRANT OF $110,000 TO SUPPORT AFGHAN-LED CHARITIES ENGAGED IN DIRECT HUMANITARIAN AID TO AFGHAN REFUGEES IN THE UNITED STATES. THE FOCUS OF THE DONATION WAS TO PROVIDE CULTURALLY COMPETENT SUPPORT TO AFGHAN FAMILIES, INCLUDING SUPPLYING THEM WITH BASIC LIVING SUPPLIES, MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, LEGAL ASSISTANCE, INTERPRETATION AND TRANSLATION, HELP FINDING SCHOOLING, HOUSING OR JOBS, AND MORE.

is a nonprofit charitable organization comprised of individuals who live with disabilities as a result of gun violence. Our mission is to protect at-risk youth from the dangers of bullying, gangs, and gun violence. Because of their first-hand experiences in urban environments, members of WAG are able to provide real-world solutions to potentially toxic situations in a way inner-city students can relate to and understand. Each week members of our organization visit schools, churches, and community centers in low-income neighborhoods to conduct gun and gang violence prevention workshops. Our workshops teach students how to avoid potentially dangerous situations by learning critical thinking skills, conflict resolution strategies, and how to build and maintain positive self-esteem.
